Megan Young Wins Miss World 2013 [Video]
Megan Young is now Miss World 2013.
Young, who entered the pageant as Miss Philippines, was crowned Miss World 2013 this morning by last year’s winner, Yu Wenxiainm during a ceremony in Bali, Indonesia.
This is the first time that a woman representing the Philippines has won the award.
Southomer reports that Young won the Top Model contest and impressed judges with her dancing skills. But what truly set her apart was her answer during the Q&A portion of the pageant.
All of the contestants were asked “Why should you become Miss World?”
Young responded: “I treasure a core value of humanity and that guides people why they act the way they do. I will use this to show other people how they can understand each other. … as one, we can help society.”
Miss France was the runner up. Miss Ghana took the third place.
The Manila Bulletin reports that Megan Young was born in the United States but moved to the Philippines at the age of 10. She is currently studying Digital Film Making and is also working as an actress and TV presenter. Young said that she hopes to move behind the camera one day.
