It looks like Taylor Swift is unstoppable. Now that she has conquered the Billboard music charts, it appears that Swift is really trying to make a go of this acting thing.
It’s been announced that Swift is heading back to acting yet again , but this time it’s opposite Hollywood heavyweight Meryl Streep. It’s being reported that Swift will co-star alongside thespian Streep in the adaptation of The Giver .
The Giver is an adaptation from the novel of the same name, written by Louis Lowry. So far Swift’s co-stars include a huge list of strong actors including Jeff Bridges, Alexander Skarsgard, Katie Holmes, and Cameron Monaghan. Not too shabby for the queen of the break up song.
So far it’s not yet known who Taylor Swift will play in The Giver , but we do know that she’s a part of the supporting cast. Streep is said to play the Chief Elder of Jonas’s community and Holmes is Jonas’s mother.
In April 2012 Swift opened up about her future in the industry. At the time Swift said :
“When I look at acting careers that I really admire, I see that it’s been a precise decision-making process for these people. They make decisions based on what they love and they do only the things that they are passionate about.”
It looks like Swift is very passionate about The Giver , and it’s no surprise that she would be. The novel is widely acclaimed, and the film itself has been in production for about fifteen years. That’s a long time, but one worth the wait with this cast.
For those that aren’t familiar with The Giver , the film’s synopsis is now listed as:
“In a seemingly perfect community, without war, pain, suffering, differences or choice, a young boy is chosen to learn from an elderly man about the true pain and pleasure of the “real” world.”
In addition to Taylor Swift’s role in The Giver , the country singer has also been in The Lorax , Valentine’s Day , and bit TV guest spots such as New Girl and CSI .
The Giver is expected to be released in 2014.
