Christoph Waltz Could Join Alexander Skarsgard In ‘Tarzan’, Report

Christoph Waltz could play another villain alongside Alexander Skarsgard in the upcoming adaptation of Tarzan.

The classic story of the boy raised by apes is getting a reboot. David Yates will direct the film in which Skarsgard plays the titular character and Waltz would play the baddie, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The website reports Christoph Waltz is in negotiations to play a Belgian soldier by the name of Captain Rom who will attempt to cash in ransom for the capture of Tarzan.

The adaptation is being distributed by Warner Bros. with producers Jerry Weintraub, Alan Riche, Mike Richardson, and Yates.

Script writers John August, Cormac and Marianne Wibberley, and most recently, Adam Cozad have all worked on the screenplay according to Variety, who sites sources saying the studio is looking for its Jane.

Names such as Margot Robbie and Emma Stone have surfaced as possible candidates to play the lady in the film, but nothing official on that area.

Even though Christoph Waltz is known for playing the bad guy, he earned an Academy Award, Golden Globe, and BAFTA for his performance in Quentin Tarantino’s western Django Unchained in 2012, in which he played sort of a good guy.

Waltz is an Austrian born actor who has had a remarkable career and might be best known for movies such as Inglorious Basterds (2009), Water For Elephants (2011), and The Three Musketeers In 3D (2011).

The 56-year-old veteran has a couple of projects in post-production. Muppets Most Wanted and Big Eyes, which are scheduled to be released in 2014.

Waltz is also set to play Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in Reykjavik, the dramatization of the 1996 summit of the same name, which took place between American President Ronald Reagan and Gorbachev. Also starring Michael Douglas as Reagan and Frank Langella as US government official Paul Nitze.
