Melissa Joan Hart Used Ecstasy, Mescaline During ‘Sabrina’ Years

Melissa Joan Hart may have had a squeaky clean image while she was starring in Sabrina the Teenage Witch, but, after cameras stopped rolling, the young actress was embroiled in a world of partying and hard drugs.

The actress is opening up about her wild past in a new book, Melissa Explains It All, writing about how she dabbled in marijuana, ecstasy, mushrooms, and mescaline during a crazy year.

“I was kind of running with a bad crowd,” the mother of three told Life & Style.

While her career was still leaning toward wholesome shows, Melissa was taking ecstasy-fueled trips to the Playboy mansion, where she said she kissed a girl in the limo on the way home. Melissa also revealed that she was high when she posed for Maxim magazine in 1999.

“That was my third or fourth time on ecstasy,” Melissa said of the photo shoot.

The book also details other before unknown aspects of Melissa’s life, like relationships with Nick Carter and Ryan Reynolds. She also shared details about a tiff with Ashton Kutcher, who she had to kick out of her parties twice for making “smarta** remarks.”

Melissa said her drug experiment phase eventually came to pass when she was what it was doing to her life.

“I was kind of running with a bad crowd. I just didn’t enjoy taking drugs. I don’t like the loss of control”, she added.

The book was especially revealing given her place in Hollywood. Melissa Joan Hart has made a career off of family friendly shows, including her most recent hit, Melissa and Joey. She also managed to keep her lifestyle under the radar when other child stars of her generation have had much more public struggles.
