Aaron Paul might be finished with Breaking Bad , but at least he’s got another project looming on the horizon. The Need for Speed movie should race into theaters next year.
In an effort to get everyone excited about director Scott Waugh’s action flick, the folks at DreamWorks Pictures have put together a trailer for the upcoming film. You can find the clip embedded below.
After getting out of prison for a crime he didn’t commit, Tobey (Aaron Paul) is looking for a little payback. To get revenge on the man who framed him for manslaughter, Tobey joins the so-called “Super Bowl of underground racing.” Dominic Cooper and Imogen Poots co-star.
Judging from the trailer for Need for Speed , our hero definitely has his work cut out for him. Waugh uses this concept to stage a number of high-octane stunts, most of which were executed without the use of sophisticated CGI.
The Act of Valor director knows a thing or two about putting together elaborate stunts. The filmmaker previously served as a stuntman on such notable Hollywood endeavors as Bad Boys 2 , Mr. & Mrs. Smith , xXx , and The Scorpion King .
Aaron Paul recently told Empire magazine that he landed the role in Need for Speed thanks to Steven Spielberg . Apparently the acclaimed filmmaker is a fan of the actor’s work.
“[It was] all thanks to Steven Spielberg, because he loves ‘Breaking Bad.’ It was like, ‘Yep, I’m going to give you this.’ I was in London when I got the phone call. I think I said, ‘Really? Okay. Wow,” Paul explained to the outlet.
He added, “‘Need For Speed’ is going to surprise everybody. I think a lot of people are thinking it’s going to be this car film, but it’s not that at all. There’s no actual narrative in the game, it’s just superfast cars with the point of view of the driver.”
