A year after launching his Trukfit clothing line, Lil Wayne announced that he will be adding a women’s collection to the brand.
Young Money recording artist and Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory receptionist Chanel West Coast will be the featured model for Trukfit Juniors.
“I’m so happy to have joined the Trukfit team. Fashion, hip hop, and skating culture are a big part of my life so coming to be a part of the Trukfit family felt just right for me,” the model said. “The girls line is super sick, and I’m hyped to be reppin’ it! Looking forward to the future with my Trukfit family.”
Lil Wayne said he was excited to launch the line and for Chanel West Coast — real name Chelsea Chanel Dudley — to represent the line.
“When I created Trukfit, I wanted it to have something for everyone,” the 30-year-old “No Worries” rapper said. “Now my female fans can get their Truk on too. I’m psyched to have my artist, Chanel West Coast, involved, as she personifies what Trukfit Juniors and this life is all about.”
Lil Wayne will serve as creative director and designer along with Marisa Flores. Trukfit juniors will be available at Dillard’s and Jimmy Jazz starting September 25.
Lil Wayne appeared on the season two premiere of Katie earlier this month and confirmed his plans to retire by the age of 35. He also said that he stopped drinking sizzurp, a drink made from prescription-strength cough syrup, soda, and a Jolly Rancher. The concoction was blamed for causing the rapper’s seizures and landing him in the hospital.
The New Orleans native explained that he hadn’t been drinking sizzurp as much as he used to but that he was taking painkillers at the time.
“I had been taking pain pills, and what he [the doctor] found out was that those pain pills consist of codeine as well,” he said. “So the lack of drinking codeine the way I did drink it, it was kind of like a reaction of stopping the drug.”
