Anna Gunn Explains Plastic Surgery Look From ‘Breaking Bad’
If you thought Anna Gunn had plastic surgery between seasons of Breaking Bad, you’re not alone — the woman behind Skyler White, many fans suggested, looked distractingly different when she returned to play the woman married to lead character Walter White, also known as Heisenberg.
It was heavily speculated based on Anna Gunn’s appearance between Season 2 and Season 3 that the star had opted for plastic surgery or perhaps interventions such as Botox or fillers, based on a markedly different appearance for the character. Some fans speculated that Gunn’s nose appeared refined, or that her lips had the characteristic shape of fillers such as Rejuvenesse.
A TV blog for which a couple “binge watched” Breaking Bad exemplifies fan chatter about Anna Gunn’s possible plastic surgery, and one writer muses:
“And now, a digression: did Anna Gunn (who plays Skyler) have plastic surgery between Seasons 2 and 3? Because if you watch the last episode of Season 2 and then immediately watch the first episode of Season 3, you can barely pay attention because all you can think is ‘NOSE JOB!’ the whole time.”
Another blogger opines:
“Anna Gunn showed up for the beginning of season four looking remarkably different than she had at the end of season three. She looked, in a word, plastic. If Gunn didn’t have significant plastic surgery between seasons, she seemed to go to great lengths to make it look like she did. Again, an actress’s physical appearance is her business (literally, in many cases), and not ours, but when a change that striking is on your TV in high definition every Sunday night, it’s impossible not to notice.”
Yet another writes:
“Additionally, you won’t have to dig too deep to find a solid number of Breaking Bad fans offering their thoughts on the character’s alleged weight-gain and facelift, this, of course, a direct reflection on poor Anna Gunn (who’s a fine actress, btw). Gunn addresses some of these sexist reactions an interview for Rolling Stone.”
Anna Gunn seemed to directly address whether plastic surgery was at play when it came to Skyler White’s changed appearance, telling People after the big Emmy night for Breaking Bad:
“I was actually ill while I was filming the show and it affected my weight… They gave me cortisone and I puffed up and gained weight. Now I’m better, thank God… I’m doing fine, thankfully. I’m feeling really good.”
Anna Gunn says Pliates and active parenting, not plastic surgery, are responsible for Skyler White’s look. Did you notice a change in the star’s appearance between seasons?
