Catherine Zeta-Jones Thanked By Michael Douglas At Emmy Awards [Video]
Catherine Zeta-Jones didn’t walk the red carpet with her estranged husband Michael Douglas last night (she was in China) but the actress did get mentioned in his acceptance speech.
Douglas, who won the award for Outstanding Actor in a Miniseries or Movie for his role in Behind The Candelabra, said that he wanted to thank Zeta-Jones for her support.
Douglas said during his acceptance speech: “I want to thank my wife Catherine for her support, my kids Dylan and Carys, and a shout out for my oldest son Cameron and hoping that I’ll be able and they’ll allow me to see him soon.”
E! Online notes that Cameron is currently in prison for drug possession.
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones announced earlier this year that they were separating. The couple has not filed for divorce yet and it looks like there might be a chance for them to make amends.
Douglas said: “Everybody is fine. Nothing really more to say. We were just taking a little break. We’re talking. I think everything will be fine and I’m very hopeful.”
Douglas’ message to Zeta-Jones was sweet but it isn’t the only reason that the speech was memorable. Douglas got some big laughs with some sexually suggestive language when he thanked his co-star Matt Damon.
Douglas said: “Obviously there’s one nominee in particular that I really have to thank. This was a two-hander, and Matt, you’re only as good as your other hand. So, I can’t tell you…you were magnificent and the only reason I’m standing here is because of you. So you really deserve half of this. Do you want the bottom or the top?”
