Claire Danes crashed an interview with Lena Dunham on the red carpet at the Emmys. She also snagged a trophy for Best Actress in a Drama Series.
The former My So-Called Life star seems to think the Girls creator is nothing short of awesome. While she was having a chat with Ryan Seacrest on Sunday (September 22), Danes decided to crash the interview and give her friend a hug.
Instead of saying her piece and heading off, Claire Danes decided to stick around for a while. According to E! Online , the actress proceeded to take the mic from Seacrest so she could do an impromptu interview with the Girls star.
“I’m really excited because you’re my really good friend and I never get to see you except for on the E! red carpet!” Dunham told her friend.
“I know, it’s totally wackadoodle,” Danes admitted.
Although the actresses reportedly grew up in the same New York neighborhood, they didn’t connect until they met through a mutual friend.
“She knew I’d been stalking her because I said it to, like, 17 media outlets, so she was really great about it,” Dunham admitted during the interview.
After this unexpected encounter came to a close, Claire Danes and Lena Dunham settled in for the awards ceremony. Before the evening was over, the Homeland star walked away with an award for her performance as CIA agent Carrie Mathison.
The Huffington Post reports that Danes previously won an Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama Series. It would appear that the folks behind-the-scenes really like what the actress is doing on the popular Showtime program.
Kerry Washington ( Scandal ), Michelle Dockery ( Downton Abbey ), Vera Farmiga ( Bates Motel ), Connie Britton ( Nashville ), Robin Wright ( House of Cards ), and Elizabeth Moss ( Mad Men ) were also up for the award during Sunday evening’s awards ceremony.
