Sophia Loren At 79: ‘The Secret To Defeating Age’
Icon Sophia Loren celebrated her 79th birthday on Friday along with a number of other famous people including, actor Gary Cole,57, and bassist Ben Shepherd,45, from Soundgarden.
Loren is known and loved for being a typical Virgo and has aged amazingly with grace and style. Born Sofia Villani Scicolone in Rome in 1934, she had two children with her late husband, Carlo Ponti.
Loren’s two children are Carlo Ponti Jr., 44, and Edoardo Ponti,40. She also has four grandchildren aged one to seven. Carlo lives in LA close to his brother Eduardo while Sophia lives “so far away!’ in Geneva. She said to reporters, “I really suffer with jet lag.”
Sophia Loren doesn’t let her senior years hold her back; to the contrary, she is very active in public appearances. She visited Russia and China recently and made a surprise visit to her sister in Rome.
Among her other amazing qualities Loren is known for being a good and loyal friend. One such close friend is the designer Georgio Armani, whose unique designs she wears on most public appearances.
Loren is a firm believer in the mind being the key to staying youthful, as she famously said about her secret to defeating age: “There IS a Fountain of Youth. It is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of the people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age.”
