There is a rumor going around that Star Wars: Epsiode VII could be heading to New Mexico as part of their shooting locations.

J.J. Abrams and Disney have already announced that the bulk of the production will be shot in London at Pinewood Studios like all the previous chapters in the franchise.

So why New Mexico?

According to a report from OneHeadlightInk.com , the western state has become a base of sorts for some Disney blockbusters such as The Lone Ranger and The Avengers.

J.J. Abrams has reportedly began building post-production facilities near Los Angeles, to cut on the time he needs to spend in the UK during the production of the sci-fi sequel.

One of the most anticipated blockbusters of 2015, Star Wars: Episode VII is the continuation of the story of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia and what becomes of them after their defeat of the Death Star and Darth Vader in Episode VI.

Star Wars: Episode VII has not made any casting announcements as of yet. The movie database website, IMDB lists original cast members Mark Hamill (Luke), Harrison Ford (Han), and Carrie Fisher (Leia) as rumored for the production. All three had said they would be up for it, but no official word.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, director J.J. Abrams is building a green room, among other things, at his Bad Robot production site for the new Star Wars installment.

Abrams has made it clear that he does not enjoy being away from his family for such an extended period of time. His past productions have all been shot in Los Angeles, but all the Star Wars films have been made in the UK.

The director said that the decision to film Episode VII in England,”really makes me insane.”

There has been no comment on the improvements to Bad Robot from either Disney or the production company. A release date for Star Wars: Episode VII has not been announced, but many insiders believe it could come in December of 2015 .
