Zac Efron Hid Not One, But Two Rehab Stints

It was a shock when the news broke that Zac Efron was treated for alleged substance abuse problems. Now we’re learning that Efron received treatment for his issues not once, but twice. How did Zac Efron’s team keep two rehab stints under wraps? It’s mind-boggling seeing as the star has been on the rise in independent works, while consistently working on set.

It’s believed that Zac Efron is dedicated to keeping things appearing as if they are in order. According to a source that spoke with HollywoodLife, Efron has his appearance in Hollywood on lock down, having told the site:

“He’s a huge control freak and has always been obsessed with keeping his partying on the down low, this getting out is his worst nightmare. He cares so much about keeping his private life private.”

It’s rumored that the High School Musical star had to receive treatment for his drug abuse, specifically with cocaine and ecstasy. His rep is painting a different picture, only commenting that, Zac is, “happy and not drinking.” As the reports come out, it’s more than obvious that Efron’s abuse had to do with party drugs. So how did Zac Efron, a seemingly clean cut guy, get involved in drugs like cocaine and Molly?

According to sources, drugs are a pretty standard thing for the young Hollywood crowd to dabble in. The source told HollywoodLife, “Most of them just hide it well and Zac is a perfect example of that.”

Zac hid the fact that he received outpatient care really well, so well that we’re finding out that this isn’t the first time he received help. According to TMZ Efron had a major relapse and had to seek counsel for his problems again.

Sources close to the situation told TMZ that Zac has been hiding his drug problem for two years. “He tried to clean himself up in March by getting professional help. We’re told he left California and stayed in a private residence where he received intensive outpatient care for several weeks.”

Zac was a perfect example of hiding his problems until he started working on the Seth Rogen comedy Neighbors. Reportedly, the actor was so high on Molly and cocaine, that he missed days of shooting. After shooting wrapped, Efron allegedly sought help for his addiction once again.

Efron’s abuse with alcohol are said to stem from several issues. One of them is being dissatisfied with his career, while another issue is his relationship with his “controlling” parents.

According to TMZ’s source, Efron got rid of the bad group of friends that introduced him to the lifestyle.
