‘Grand Theft Auto 5’ PC May Be Coming, According To Leak
Grand Theft Auto 5 PC may be on the way after all, according to a recent Xbox 360 hack.
Rockstar may not be talking about it, but the recent smash hit GTA 5 could end up a PC title after all. After the game broke the opening day sales records with $800 million, as previously reported by The Inquisitr, Rockstar might even publicly consider following up on what appear to be previous plans to bring the sandbox blockbuster to PC. They may be silent on the petition to bring Grand Theft Auto 5 to PC because they may be hard at work on it, and if the recent install issues are any indication, we don’t want it rushed.
Apparently, some ambitious and shifty gamers have taken the Xbox 360 code from early releases of Grand Theft Auto 5 and put it on bit-torrent sites for other gamers to download and burn to illegal copies. This is where the proof was discovered. The code for the Xbox 360 version, which is obviously similar to that of PC code, since the console is made by Microsoft, contains hints if one knows where to look.
A pastebin file on Reddit, discovered and reported by Cinema Blend sources, indicated settings for PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and even PS4, indicating the game could also be heading to the next-gen consoles, as previously reported by The Inquisitr.
The code in question indicating that Grand Theft Auto 5 PC could be on its way includes a section detailing “PC configuration overrides.” Keep in mind that this is speculation based on a bit-torrent copy of the game, and Rockstar might have accidentally left the code lines in before deciding to nix the idea. However, the opening day sales may have changed their minds.
Of course, if previous release gaps between console and PC versions of GTA titles are any indication, it could be well over a year before PC gamers get their hands on Rockstar’s latest sandbox blockbuster. Still, it’s hope for those PC gamers who felt jilted when the current-gen consoles got their copies and they didn’t.
It could be just early speculation, but Grand Theft Auto 5 for PC could be on its way down the road.
