Cathleen Alexis, Navy Yard Shooter’s Mother, ‘So Very Sorry’ For Aaron Alexis’ Actions
Cathleen Alexis, the Navy Yard shooter’s mother, is apologizing for the actions of Aaron Alexis.
As previously reported by The Inquisitr, Aaron Alexis’ motive is unknown, although it’s become known he’s been suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder since 9/11.
Aaron Alexis was a Buddhist who some friends described as quiet. A roommate from last year said Aaron Alexis was “crazy,” but “in a positive way.” After quitting the Navy, he’d traveled to Asia and wore a golden amulet of Buddha around his neck. Before the Navy Yard shooting, witnesses say he was angry over alleged discrimination by the Navy and the salary he was receiving as a sub-contractor under HP.
But others remember Aaron Alexis’ propensity for violence, including shooting a construction worker’s car and discharging a gun through the floor of a neighbor’s apartment. Before the Navy Yard shooting, Aaron Alexis tried purchasing further guns but was turned down. Some of the weapons he used were stolen off of the bodies of those he killed within the military facility.
Just a month before the Navy Yard shooting, Aaron Alexis had been hearing voices in his head and was being treated by the Veterans Administration for his mental problems. Aaron Alexis was convinced an “unknown party” was using a microwave machine to send “vibrations into his body.” But others are trying to claim Aaron Alexis’ video games, and not guns or mental issues, are the reason for his actions because he used to play violent video games for 16 hours at a time.
But even Cathleen Alexis doesn’t know Aaron Alexis’ motives for the Navy Yard shooting:
“I don’t know why he did what he did, and I’ll never be able to ask him why. I’m so, so very sorry this has happened. My heart is broken.”
But Cathleen Alexis is “glad” Aaron Alexis is “now in a place where he can no longer do harm to anyone.” The Navy Yard shooter is responsible for the deaths of 12 people a the historical Washington Navy Yard.
