Kelsey Grammer Joins ‘The Expendables 3’
Kelsey Grammer is joining The Expendables 3.
According to Deadline, the Boss star was cast as Bonaparte, an ex-mercenary who helps the Expendables. The role was originally intended for Nicolas Cage.
Grammar also recently landed a role as the villain in Transformers: Age of Extinction. He said the character, Harlod Attinger, could be a problem for the robots in the sequel.
“He’s a no-nonsense guy, He’s lived his life in the shadows for 30 years in the service of his country, and he likes to be unremarkable yet very efficient,” he said.
Grammar also said that Bay, who was a fan of Boss before it was canceled, was “very respectful and funny.” The director also gave him free rein to be to do what he wanted.
“He just said to me the other day, ‘You’re Kelsey Grammer — you can do whatever you want to do.’ So I guess he at least has some acquaintance with my work,” he said.
Kelsey Grammer’s new gig isn’t without its dangers. His Expendables 3 co-star Jason Statham almost drowned while filming a scene. Terry Crews explained that he and Statham almost died in a truck accident.
“We were doing a stunt and Jason Statham was driving the truck, and we were supposed to be on the back of this truck. For some reason we’re over there talking, sipping smoothies and he gets in the truck,” he said.
“We’re in Varna, Bulgaria, on the edge of the Black Sea, he literally was supposed to stop the truck, we [get out and] shoot the whole thing,” Crews said. “Well, the truck doesn’t stop! The truck rolls over the dock, into the Black Sea with Jason Statham driving!”
Crews, who was supposed to be in the back of the truck, said he thought he should do jump in to rescue his co-star, but was instead a “heap on the ground” yelling Statham’s name. Miraculously, Jason Statham broke out of the truck and swam back to the surface after the trunk sank to the bottom. He dried off and was ready to shoot the scene again.
Kelsey Grammer joins an ensemble cast that includes Sylvester Stallone, Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Jet Li, Antonio Banderas, Dolph Lundgren, and Wesley Snipes. UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey also stars in The Expendables 3.
