Secret Service Arrests Man For Throwing Firecrackers At White House
The secret service arrested a man today for throwing firecrackers over the fence at the White House.
An Associated Press photographer told ABC that they heard what sounded like gunshots outside of the White House. No guns were fired but secret service agents did find a shoeless man throwing firecrackers over the White House fence.
Three officers tackled the man and arrested him.
Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan said: “He was immediately arrested.”
The man has not been identified and authorities have not released any information regarding his arrest.
The small explosions, which reportedly sounded like gunshots, went off a few hours after news broke that Aaron Alexis had shot and killed 12 people at the Washington Navy Yard this morning. Alexis was also killed in the shooting.
President Obama said: “We send our thoughts and prayers to all at the Navy Yard who’ve been touched by this tragedy. We will do everything in our power to make sure whoever carried out this cowardly act is held responsible. These are men & women were going to work, doing their job, protecting all of us.”
Here are some photos from the strange scene at the White House today.
