Jaguars Are Massive Underdogs Against Seahawks In Week Three

The Jacksonville Jaguars season keeps getting worse. Vegas oddsmakers have placed the Jaguars as 20 point underdogs against Seattle this Sunday.

The Jaguars will be without a number of starters when they play in Seattle during week three. Quarterback Blaine Gabbert, wide receiver Justin Blackmon, and tight end Mercedes Lewis are all out. Superstar running back Maurice Jones Drew is also questionable with a left foot injury.

The oddsmakers may just be right. Seattle is coming off a 29-3 thumping of the 49ers where the “12th Man” set the Guinness record for crowd noise.

Jacksonville has scored 11 points in its first two games. The 49ers have one of the most dynamic offenses in the NFL and were held to three points. Is it possible to get negative points?

Despite the massive underdog status, Jaguars fans aren’t giving up on the season. Tired of unproductive quarterback play, they are trying to convince ownership to bring Tim Tebow back to Florida. Tebow grew up in Jacksonville and played for the Florida Gators in college. He is a free agent after being released by the Patriots during final roster cuts.

The last massive underdog was the Colts two years ago against the Patriots. That was the season before Andrew Luck came to town with the number one pick in the draft. Indianapolis was a 20.5 point underdog that Sunday.

As much as the oddsmakers rely on statistics to create point spreads, the way a team is perceived is undeniably a factor. The Jaguars are the worst team in the NFL this year. After two games it looks so bad that Jacksonville might go 0-16. The only team to ever go 0-16 was the Detroit Lions in 2008.

Do you think the Jaguars 20 point underdog status is fair? How many wins do you think they’ll get this year?
