Miley Cyrus Explains Justin Bieber Advice Previously Taken Out Of Context

Miley Cyrus lost a Vogue cover after letting it all hang out and is now down one fiancé, but she is on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar October issue and she’s getting a few things off her chest.

It should be noted the interview was given before today’s end of engagement announcement.

But considering that one of the statements the 20-year-old makes is that it’s been a year since “I started trying to take over the world,” it’s an indication of her frankness with the magazine.

Firstly, the “We Can’t Stop” songstress has clarified advice it was widely reported she gave Justin Bieber earlier this year.

Despite the fact the pair are very good friends, shortly after a video of the 19-year-old peeing into a mop bucket went viral in July, the songstress was quoted telling the UK’s Sunday People,

“”I told Justin to take a bit of time out and people aren’t so obsessed with you and nit-pick… When you’re a worldwide star, everyone sees everything. Lots of people make a video and put it on Instagram, some people might think it’s funny but because it’s Justin Bieber, it’s like really bad.”

“I always tell him just to be cool and not talk about it because when you talk it fuels the fire. He’s still stupid though. But everyone does dumb stuff when they are messed up.”

Those quotes went around the world and were highly damaging for Bieber at an unfortunate time.

Yet something has always seemed slightly “off” about them, considering Cyrus recently referred to the Canadian superstar as her “homie.”

So, imagine our surprise when just days after Miley’s astonishing display with “Partner-in-Twerk” Robin Thicke at the recent MTV Video Music Awards, another seemingly new Sunday People interview with Cyrus surfaced in which she said,

“I have so many f***ing issues. I am so f***ed up. Everyone does dumb stuff when they are messed up.”

Clearly, somewhere along the way Cyrus’ remarks about Bieber were taken out of context, maybe even misquoted. It happens. It shouldn’t. But it happens.

Now, Miley has set the record straight on how she intended the advice she gave the “Beauty and A Beat” singer to be understood.

She reveals she advised Bieber, “I’m not saying you need to take a break because you’re crazy. I’m saying you need to take a break so you can be crazy, and people aren’t going to judge you.”

Cyrus continues, “You’re going to do dumb stuff from here on out. But do it in your own time. Do it safely. You can afford to protect yourself and still have fun.”

A pretty different angle to the way her quotes were previously reported then.

Cyrus also shared her perspective on another drama magnet, Lindsay Lohan.

The singer told the magazine that she heard Lindsay — who recently left a Malibu rehab facility in July — is now getting rid of “toxic” people in her life in an effort to stay clean.

Of this, Miley wryly notes, “I’m like, ‘Honey, you’re going to have to move out of this universe because everywhere you go there are toxic people.'”

Explaining that her new shock-jock public image is a deliberate decision to distance herself from her Hannah Montana persona, she went on to say,

“I was an adult when I was supposed to be a kid. So now I’m an adult and I’m acting like a kid.”

As the child of Billy Ray Cyrus and a childhood spent acting and performing, Cyrus says making a lot of money (which she has done) isn’t a big thing for her.

“When I was growing up, I didn’t even notice that I started making all this money,” she recalls.

“There’s something about new money that makes people change. But I never did not have [money]. So when I got it, I didn’t become obsessed with having it.”

Finally, Cyrus says she’s not looking to take Taylor Swift’s crown anytime soon.

“There is no girl out there speaking on behalf of the country girls who are turnt up,” she explains, using a term she sings in the recently leaked “Twerk” — her collaboration with Bieber and Young Money rapper Lil Twist.

Confident and assured, the lady who’s just smashed VEVO’s Most Viewed in 24 hours record with the soaring “Wrecking Ball” and will soon unleash her new album Bangerz, has fighting words for anyone who doubts her focus.

“I feel like every girl is trying to have a beauty shot and prove that they’re ‘fashion.’ But I can be in white leggings and a white sports bra and I’m on a whole other level of sh*t that those girls don’t even get yet because they don’t know how to do it.”

She adds: “I’m someone who cares about the real things in life. There are things that are personal that stress me out, but my career? That doesn’t affect me. I know I’m doing what I’m supposed to be doing.”

You tell ’em Miley.
