Miley Cyrus And Liam Hemsworth Officially Over, Reps Confirm
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are officially over, according to reps for both stars. The couple got engaged in May 2012, but has been the subject of split rumors for several months.
The split was apparently Miley’s decision, according to E! News sources, who told the site that Cyrus was “coming to grips with Liam what she believed was less than faithful to her.”
Rumors that Hemsworth and Cyrus had called off their engagement ramped up after the singer’s controversial MTV VMAs performance last month. Her fiancé was noticeably absent from the awards show.
The Inquisitr previously reported that Cyrus unfollowed her former fiancé on Twitter over the weekend in a move that apparently overshadowed Monday’s announcement. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth’s split isn’t a surprise, considering all the rumors stacked against them.
The couple was last spotted together on August 8 at the premiere of Hemsworth’s latest film, Paranoia. However, Hemsworth and Cyrus appeared distant from each other, instead of the way they were last summer.
PEOPLE claimed an exclusive on the news that Liam and Miley are over. The site explained that reps for both stars confirmed the engagement was called off. It’s not clear when the decision was made.
Liam proposed to Miley in May 2012. At the time, Cyrus dished, “I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam.”
However, the couple began to have issues toward the start of 2013. The pair decided to postpone their wedding earlier this year and Miley Cyrus was spotted without her 3.5-carat Neil Lane engagement ring soon after the news.
Hemsworth and Cyrus reunited in July in Canada while the actor was filming his new movie Cut Bank. However, it appears their problems were too much to handle. Despite their reunion, it appeared that both stars were living separate lives.
While Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are officially over, the singer revealed today that she still wants to get married someday. For now, Cyrus stated she has no time for marriage.
