A new report from authorities indicates that they have two shooters down at the Navy facility in Washington, D.C.
Witnesses report hearing four or five shots at around 8:20 am Monday morning.
The latest on the victims is that there are 4 people dead and 8 injured including two police officers. A total of 12 shot, although these numbers are expected to change.
Witnesses related to being very scared and rate the level of fright at an 11 in a scale from 1 to 10.
We are awaiting a press conference shortly with more details on the Navy Yard shooting.
There are several helicopters hovering around the Navy Yard facility taking victims to different area hospitals.
One witness relates what she heard at the time:
“Was going to the cafeteria and I heard three shots, thirty seconds later I heard four more shots. We knew it was not something that had fallen to the ground.”
“I wanted to get out of the building, even thought they were telling us to remain there.” reports a witness who was inside the building at the time of the shooting, Patricia Ward.
People were panicking because they didn’t know what was happening; everyone started to run as they tried to leave the building.
Some witnesses have reported that they thought the shots were construction related sounds, but Ms. Ward says there was no mistaken in her mind.
At this time D.C. schools are on lockdown.
Ed Siegler with the Navy public affairs reports that two shooters are “down.” We are awaiting more details at a press conference.
