‘House Of Lies’ Casts Eliza Coupe
Eliza Coupe is joining Showtime’s House of Lies.
The former Happy Endings star will appear in a recurring role in the dramedy’s upcoming third season. She will play a wealthy and eccentric heiress of a family owned media empire, according to Digital Spy.
Coupe will balance House of Lies with the CBS comedy The Millers.
The 32-year-old previously appeared in seasons 8 and 9 of Scrubs. She starred on Happy Endings as Jane Kerkovich-Williams for three seasons. The show was canceled on May 10 after being moved to Fridays in February. At the time, Coupe said she wished ABC had supported the series more.
“It’s a running joke on set when we film something we all think is incredible that someone goes, ‘Oh man, that was so good — it’s too bad no one will ever see it,'” she said. “It’s the same as every year, we just never know. The network and the studio love the show, and they have been very good to us.”
Coupe added, “They have given us a chance and kept us around for three seasons. Do we wish there was more publicity? Yeah. But it’s undeniable we’re making a great show.”
Eliza Coupe found herself facing a very unhappy ending when her husband filed for divorce in July. Coupe and Randall Whittinghill married in 2007 after dating for seven years. In 2012, she admitted that she only began dating him because of his resemblance to Johnny Depp. She also said that she didn’t want to see Shame because she was in her “own delusional world” that she would see Michael Fassbender’s “amazing piece someday.”
Randall Whittinghill cited irreconcilable differences and asked for spousal support.
House of Lies stars Don Cheadle, Kristin Bell, and Ben Schwartz as a group of management consultants who stop at nothing to close business deals. The series was renewed for a third season in January.
