Heroic Dog Alerted Parents Of Toddler To Abusive Babysitter
A very smart dog alerted the unsuspecting parents of a seven-month-old baby to his abusive babysitter.
When Benjamin and Hope Jordan moved to Charleston, South Carolina, they had to hire a babysitter to watch their infant son, Finn.
Not knowing that anything was wrong, since her background check had come up clean, they couldn’t understand why the family dog became so agitated whenever she came close to the baby.
Benjamin Jordan says that when they hired 22-year-old Alexis Khan, she was a good fit for their needs at the time, but not long after being hired, strange happenings were making them suspicious.
Mainly the aggressive behavior of their dog any time she came close to the baby.
“About five months into her being our baby sitter, we started to notice that our dog was very defensive of our son when she would come in the door,” Jordan said. “He was very aggressive towards her and a few times we actually had to physically restrain our dog from going towards her.
Well, in this story the smart dog was trying to alert the parents of the toddler. It turns out the babysitter was up to no good.
Without any prove of wrong doing on Khan’s part, Hope suggested they leave their iPhone under the couch and record what was happening while the Finn was under her care.
“It started with cussing,” Jordan said, in obvious distress. “Then you hear slap noises and his crying changes from a distress cry to a pain cry. I just wanted to reach through the audio tape, go back in time and just grab him up. To know that five months I had handed my child to a monster, not knowing what was going on in my house for that day…”.
A few weeks later Khan was taken into custody and pleaded guilty to assault and battery. She will serve one to three years in prison, and be placed on a child abuse registry. She will not be allowed to work with children and will be eligible for parole after completing one year of her sentence.
Thanks to this heroic dog that alerts the parents that something was wrong, this story had a happy ending.
