Dog Saves Baby From Abusive Babysitter
A South Carolina family’s dog is being called a hero this week because he was able to alert the parents of 7-month-old Finn Jordan of his abusive babysitter.
According to ABC News, Benjamin and Hope Jordan suspected something was wrong when their dog began to growl and snarl at the babysitter, Alexis Khan.
“We noticed the dog was getting very defensive when Alexis was around. He would growl and stand between her and our son. His hair would stand up on the back of his neck and we knew something was up,” Benjamin Jordan said.
Khan, 22, had been working for the family for about five months before the Jordans became suspicious.
Before hiring her, the had run a background check on Khan before hiring her, and everything had come back clean. So they hired her to babysit their 7-month-old while they were away at work.
Once the Jordans started to suspect something was wrong, they placed an iPhone under the couch to record what happened when Khan was alone with their child.
According to the Huffington Post, the recording revealed Khan swearing and slapping the infant as the child’s cries changed “from a distress cry to a pain cry.”
The report continued on to say that Khan pleaded guilty to assault and battery Monday and was sentenced to one to three years in prison. She will also never be allowed to work with children again.
“Who knows how many children she has abused or how many more she would have had it not been for our dog,” asked Benjamin.
The Jordans give all the credit to their dog with saving the baby, and potentially other children, from further abuse.
“Had our dog not alerted us to the trouble… it could have been Finn that was killed by the babysitter. You never know,” Benjamin said.
I think its safe to say a job well done to Kallian, the dog who saved a baby from his abusive babysitter.
