In preparation for Sunday night’s big showdown between the 49ers and Seahawks, San Franciso’s Anthony Dixon referred to his rivals as the “She-hawks” in a tweet he has since deleted.
The 49ers and Seahawks have one of the most heated rivalries in all of professional sports right now. Players regularly trade jabs on and off the field. For the most part its all in fun and games.
Sometimes players need to watch themselves. There’s a blatant difference between fun and immaturity. Anthony Dixon crossed that line with his tweet. Someone let him know though, as it was deleted shortly after being posted.
In today’s world though, once the message is out, it can’t really be deleted. Point in case, Dixon’s full tweet reads, “Extra weight on the racks all week getting less sleep preparing for these She-Hawks. I love hostile environments Imma feel right at home… ”
Next time maybe Anthony Dixon will think before he tweets.
The reserve running has spent his entire career in San Francisco and has seen the rivalry grow as both teams have become NFL super powers.
The rivalry is definitely coming to a head this year. Both teams are Super Bowl favorites, but only one of them can make it. According to Las Vegas the 49ers have the slight edge as 6-1 favorites . The Seahawks have 7-1 odds of winning the Super Bowl.
The Denver Broncos lead the entire pack at 5-1 odds. If Las Vegas is correct the Super Bowl will be the Broncos against the 49ers.
Las Vegas odds aside, what matters right now is Sunday. The Seahawks play the 49ers on national television. Emotions will be running very high. The last time the teams played Seattle crushed San Francisco 42-13 at home.
After Anthony Dixon’s “She-hawks” tweet you can bet the Seahawks will be looking for a repeat beat down.
