Katherine Heigl Labeled A ‘Difficult’ Actress By Industry Insiders
Katherine Heigl might be headed back to the small screen, but apparently quite a few people in Hollywood think she’s a bit more trouble than she’s worth.
After fleeing Grey’s Anatomy for a string of box office disappointments, the Knocked Up star is headed back to television. According to a recent article at The Hollywood Reporter, Heigl’s return could be marred by quite a bit of bad press.
Although she was once considered an actress to keep your eye on, Katherine Heigl’s star isn’t shining quite as brightly as it did just a few years ago. In addition to starring in a string of big-screen flops, the actress stands accused of being extremely difficult on-set.
“She can cost you time every single day of shooting Wardrobe issues, not getting out of the trailer, questioning the script every single day,” one source said regarding Heigl’s appearance in Life As We Know It.
The actress was reportedly paid around $12 million to appear in director Greg Berlanti’s 2010 drama. Although the movie received mixed reviews upon its release, the modestly-budgeted flick ended up generated around $105 million from around the world.
Despite that film’s success, Katherine Heigl couldn’t make One for the Money or The Big Wedding fly with moviegoers. Not only is she considered box office poison at the moment, many folks think she and her mother Nancy Heigl are simply too much trouble.
One industry insider dished:
It’s about the mouth. ‘F*** you. You are a f***ing liar.’ Whatever you’d say, you were an idiot. The call would be, ‘This is the worst craft service we’ve ever had! There’s nothing to eat! This is the worst wardrobe!’ You knew that every day, you were going to get slammed. The frustrating part is [Heigl] is incredibly talented and smart.
The actress is headed back to the small screen in a CIA procedural show for the folks at NBC. The Following scribe Alexi Hawley has been tapped to script the pilot. Heigl said in a statement that she was excited about the project.
“I am thrilled and honored to have been asked to be a part of developing these stories and this character and bringing it all to life. NBC has been a true partner in their passion and support for the show that we’ve dreamed of making and I could not be happier about joining forces with them,” she said.
