‘Gravity’ Stills Show Off A Visual Masterpiece [Photos]
By now everyone is talking about Alfonso Cuaron’s highly anticipated film Gravity. From James Cameron’s raving about the film being the best space experience ever, to the standing ovation it received after its screening at the Toronto International Film Festival; it seems like everyone is going nuts over the Sandra Bullock and George Clooney starring vehicle.
So is it hype? While we haven’t seen the film just yet, we do have stills from Gravity that definitely gives us a clue on whether or not its worth seeing. The stills are magnetic, dazzling, and unlike anything we’ve seen in a space film (unless you count that odd sequence in The Tree of Life.) For us, the hype around Gravity isn’t just hype, and these stills definitely back up what everyone is saying about the film.
Gravity truly looks to be an epic journey through space, and at the center of it is Sandra Bullock. Bullock plays a medical engineer on her very first mission to space. While she and Clooney are fixing a satellite, debris pummels them, separating the two from their shuttle, and cutting off all contact with the mission control. As they so often say, that’s when things get real.
Bullock has been promoting the film at the Toronto International Film Festival. Of Gravity, she said:
“The process was so disjointed — we shot from the beginning of one line of dialogue to the beginning of another, and your hand started here and your head had to wind up here while your legs were being thrown up in the air.”
That doesn’t sound too pleasant of an experience to us, but if the multiple trailers are any evidence of the film’s accomplishments, it looks like it all paid off in a big way for the actress.
Gravity hits theaters October 4, 2013.
