Jimmy Kimmel Just Trolled Internet With ‘Viral Twerk Fail’
Jimmy Kimmel may have a talk show, but he’s also just an internet troll at heart — as evidenced by the massive pranking of viral media he pulled off this month with the “Worst Twerk Fail EVER” video.
Although Jimmy Kimmel wasn’t in the “Worst Twerk Fail EVER” clip (originally), it was his work… and the point of the exercise isn’t really all that clear, and was probably just Jimmy being Jimmy.
Kimmel revealed last night to the “conspiracy theorists on the Internet who thought the video was fake: you were right, it was fake” as he admitted his involvement in the clip’s production.
The host disclosed one possible motivation for faking the fiery twerking fail — he said at the end of his big reveal:
“Thank you for helping us deceive the world and hopefully put an end to twerking forever.”
Kimmel also introduced the woman who played “Caitlin Heller,” really a stuntwoman whose name is Daphne Avalon.
He explained how his crack social media task force got the twerk fail video to spread so widely, so quickly.
Not only does Kimmel say that he didn’t do any special campaigning — he also filmed the clip way before Miley Cyrus twerked her way into American living rooms everywhere:
“We shot the video about two months ago… We didn’t send it to any TV station, we didn’t tweet it… We just put it on YouTube and let the magic happen.”
