Charlie Hunnam: Sex Scenes For ‘Fifty Shades’ Are ‘Not A Problem’
Charlie Hunnam, the 33-year-old British actor who has been chosen to play Christian Grey in Fifty Shades Of Grey doesn’t appear to be concerned about the expected hot sex scenes the film will require. He recently said they are “not a problem”.
Hunnam’s selection has been a controversial one, after author E.L. James finally announced he was the actor who would portray Grey on screen.
Many had other ideas in mind, Matt Bomer being the most popular one, but other actors who reportedly rejected offers were Ryan Gosling and Robert Pattinson, who James said was her first choice.
They apparently did not want to deal with all the nudity the movie will most likely have, but Charlie Hunnam doesn’t seem troubled by that aspect of the film one bit. Maybe that’s why he got the role.
The actor says his first experience on television was portraying a gay character in the series Queer As Folk.
Charlie Hunnam told the Associated Press of his first TV role,
“You know what, I had such a baptism of fire with regards to sexuality on camera at the beginning of my career. I starred in the British Channel Four miniseries Queer as Folk, where I played a young, gay character, and there were some incredible, explicit sex scenes on that show…. Now I am 16 years older and more mature so I don’t anticipate them being too much of a problem. It’s like anything else, just an exciting challenge.”
As to how playing this character will affect his seven year old relationship with girlfriend Morgana McNelis, Charlie doesn’t seem to be concerned either.
He says they have been together for a long time and love each other.
“Of course, it’s difficult being with an actor, you know? She is required to share certain parts of me with the world that she wouldn’t necessarily choose to do, but we have a great relationship, and she loves me and wants to be with me and we’ve been together a long time now, and I think she understands and has come to terms with the fact that there are certain elements of me that she is going to have to share. This is an extreme example of that, but thankfully we do have seven and a half years of history together, so it won’t be a big problem.”
Charlie Hunnam will star opposite Dakota Johnson in the steamy erotic movie Fifty Shades Of Grey expected to get us all excited on August 1, 2014.
