Charlie Hunnam Talks About Casting Experience For ‘Fifty Shades’ [Video]
In case you have been living under a rock, you must have heard that Charlie Hunnam will be steaming up the big screen as Christian Grey in the film adaptation of E.L. James’ novel Fifty Shades Of Grey.
Charlie will co-star with Dakota Johnson, who will play the role of recent college graduate Anastasia Steele.
Much controversy has surrounded the casting of these two, but as people get to know Charlie and Dakota, hopefully we can all focus on how they will go about convincing us that they are their characters.
Charlie Hunnam was recently at the premiere of his TV hit series Sons Of Anarchy and of course no one was asking him about the show. Instead he got a lot of questions about his new character and why he decided to do it after many well known names turned it down.
The hunky British actor tells Access Hollywoodthat as in any big film adaptation getting cast was a process, Charlie Hunnam adds that reading the character with Dakota Johnson was very important to him and let him know if he was feeling Christian.
He says he discussed the character with director Sam Taylor-Johnson so he knew exactly what he was getting into and comments that it “is incredibly exciting” to be playing one of the sexiest male characters to ever graze the big screen.
Charlie says that part of the process was doing a “work” session with Taylor-Johnson to get a feel for each other. He also wanted to read Christian out loud and work on him a “little bit” to see how it felt for him.
“As soon as I started reading, I felt I could bring this character to life in a very honest, exciting way.”
Charlie Hunnam also stated he felt that Dakota Johnson was the one to play Anastasia and asked if she would co-star with him when they told him he got the part of Christian Grey.
