Katy Perry Becomes A Jungle Goddess In ‘Roar’ Music Video [Watch]
Katy Perry is a banana-spearing jungle goddess in the music video for her hit single “Roar.”
If you’ve been following the singer’s career for any length of time, then you know that her videos tend to be a little over-the-top. The clip for her chart-topping new tune is certainly no exception.
The whole things kick off with a plane crash somewhere deep within a dark and foreboding jungle. Perry’s character is stranded all alone after her companion is suddenly attacked by a ferocious tiger. Encounters with spiders, alligators, and other jungle creatures soon follow.
After bathing naked next to an elephant and exploring a cave filled with ancient artwork, Katy Perry becomes queen of the jungle. This title apparently includes a lot of cleavage and short skirts made of vibrant jungle foliage. The singer also spends quite a bit time swinging from vines.
The “Roar” music video definitely wears its message on its sleeve. Overcoming obstacles and becoming champion of your own life are prevalent themes throughout the clip. That having been said, the video definitely suits the song very well.
During her chat with MTV News earlier this year, Katy Perry said she wrote “Roar” after a pretty tough time in her life.
“I started the record in November, but things were really flowing by the spring and it’s a song about standing up for yourself,” she explained.
The singer added, “Who can be the biggest bully in the equation is yourself and can get in your way and it’s a song about speaking up for yourself and having the strength.”
The new song is currently available for download through iTunes and Amazon. The singer’s upcoming album Prism is set for release on October 22.
