A$AP Rocky Charged With Slapping Female Fan At ‘Made In America’ Festival
A$AP Rocky has been charged with assault after allegedly slapping a female fan at the “Made in America” festival in Philadelphia.
The district attorney’s office said that a concertgoer claimed the 24-year-old slapped her as he tried to wave away fans while walking through the crowd Saturday.
The victim filed a private criminal complaint alleging that the Harlem native gave her whiplash when he slapped her across her face. Her name hasn’t been released.
This isn’t the first time the rapper, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, has assaulted a female fan at a concert. A$AP Rocky was caught on video reaching up and slapping a fan who tapped him on his head and blew him a kiss at a sold-out concert at Hordern Pavilion in Sydney in June.
A$AP Rocky was arrested in July 2012 after he got into a fight with two people who were trying to take pictures of him. The rapper got into an argument with a man named Shenick Alcine, who allegedly saw the rapper doing drugs inside a clothing store in downtown Manhattan. The two amateur photographers began taking pictures of the altercation.
A$AP Rocky and a friend confronted the amateur photogs, and a fight broke out. The two photographers suffered cuts and bruises, and one was treated at the hospital. A$AP Rocky was charged with attempted grand larceny after he tried to grab one of the photographers’ cameras. He was also charged with attempted robbery in the second degree and assault.
The rapper pleaded guilty to attempted grand larceny in December, and the robbery and assault charges were dropped. A$AP Rocky was sentenced to three days of community service and ordered to pay a $250 fine.
Shenick Alcine filed a lawsuit against A$AP Rocky claiming that the rapper beat him up while under the influence of illegal drugs. A$AP claimed it was in self-defense and asked that the charges be dropped.
