Kelly Osbourne isn’t forgetting her roots.
The fashion maven and daughter of rocker Ozzy Osbourne once tilted toward the heavier side before a trip to rehab and a concerted diet and weight loss program saw her lose 70 pounds. Despite her new smaller frame, the 28-year-old is moving forward with a fashion line geared toward women who don’t fit in the smaller sizes many lines offer.
Kelly Osbourne said she had been thinking about her own fashion line or about a year and now has the green light to get it going.
“I had one of the most exciting meetings of my life this week — it pretty much green-lit my clothing line,” Osbourne told attendees at Hollywood’s BeautyCon L.A. Summit.
Speaking to Fashionista , Osbourne said the line will reflect her unique style , which has come a long way in the past decade.
“My style has evolved because I grew up,” Kelly said. “People forget that I was 15 when I started out on The Osbournes and I’m 28 next month. Scary! Scary! So it’s just great that over the years I’ve learned from my mistakes.”
Though she’s had quite a transformation in recent years, Kelly said she still thinks of herself as an “FFP: Former Fat Person.”
She also hopes a new plus-size line of clothing will help empower young women who often don’t get many options from the fashion world.
“I’ve always been really into fashion. It’s just that my fashion choices at an early age were really odd and they still are. I have grown to understand, as much as I don’t like it, that the fashion world doesn’t really want to listen to what a little chubby girl has to say,” Kelly Osbourne said. “When I lost weight and started to wear the clothes I always wanted to wear but didn’t fit into, that’s when [my perception within the industry] really started to change. It did give me a bit of a bittersweet feeling towards the fashion world.”
