Channing Tatum And Mark Ruffalo Undergo Transformations For ‘Foxcatcher’
If the cast list for Foxcatcher excites you, you may have to take a closer look to recognize fan favorites like Channing Tatum and Mark Ruffalo. The pair play brothers in the thriller, but there’s absolutely no resemblance of the Hulk or Magic Mike in this film.
While the two didn’t undergo the amount of prosthesis co-star Steve Carell had to with his prosthetic nose, the two still look pretty different from their matinée looks.
Based on a true story, Bennett Miller’s Foxcatcher sees Channing Tatum as an Olympic Gold Medal-winning wrestler named Mark Shultz, who is ready to make a name for himself without being associated with his brother Dave Schultz (Mark Ruffalo), who is also an Olympic wrestler.
Enter in an eccentric millionaire, John du Pont (Steve Carell) who offers Mark a chance to train with him for the 1988 games in Seoul. Of course this doesn’t turn out to be the best thing for Mark, as it’s revealed that du Pont is actually a paranoid schizophrenic, who has extremely horrible coaching methods, which leads to Mark’s mental breakdown.
In the stills both Ruffalo and Tatum debut new haircuts, especially Ruffallo, who resembles Allen Ginsberg in his prime, more than Dave Schultz.
Mark Schultz went on to become the two-time world champion in freestyle wrestling, and is a recognizable member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. He remains to be undefeated in Mixed Martial Arts for his 1-0 record. In 1991 he was put into the Guinness book of World Records for having the most world titles won by a U.S. wrestler.
Foxcatcher is said to have its world premiere at the AFI fest on November 8. It’s theatrical release hits theaters on December 20.
In addition to Mark Ruffalo, Channing Tatum, and Steve Carell, Anthony Michael Hall, Vanessa Redgrave, and Sienna Miller also star.
