Sofia Vergara Is The Highest-Paid Television Actress, By A Wide Margin
Sofia Vergara is the highest-paid actress on television, and the competition isn’t even close.
For the second year in a row, the Modern Family star was the highest-ranking television actress among the Forbes Celebrity 100 list. The list showed that in the past year Vergara earned $30 million.
The list delves into the earnings of American celebrities for the period between June 2012 and June 2013. It only counts cash for completed projects and contracts paid off during that time frame, but it includes just about anything that gives stars a paycheck. So licensing deals, endorsements, and any other kind of project goes into the final tally.
Sofia Vergara had plenty of side projects for the year. She has a licensing deal with Kmart and her own line of shapewear, along with a string of endorsements that include Diet Pepsi, Covergirl, and Rooms To Go.
One of the actresses tied for No. 2 actress didn’t have such a diverse revenue stream. Law & Order star Marisa Hargitay took home $11 million during that time period, but all of it came from her show.
Also finishing with $11 million was Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco.
A study of the Forbes Celebrity 100 list shows that the 20 top-paid television actresses earned a combined $183 million.
Though Sofia Vergara may be filthy rich, she doesn’t plan to show much of it off at her upcoming wedding. The actress said she wants her nuptials with businessman Nick Loeb to be low-key.
“I’m giving myself time… maybe I’ll just do something really tiny, like my son and my mother and that’s it,” Vergara told Extra. “I did such a big party for my 40th birthday, that now either I do something more or I do something even better than that.”
Maybe Sofia Vergara wants to keep the wedding small so she can save the $30 million as a nest egg.
