Alexis Bledel and Matt Bomer Star In ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Petition

Alexis Bledel and Matt Bomer will star in Fifty Shades of Grey or else.

Fans of the smutty series are just irate about the casting of Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson in the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey film. The casting was announced this week and has already resulted in quite a bit of controversy, but it’s hard to take fan outrage seriously without an official petition of some kind.

Enter “superfan” Barbra Peace’s Change.org petition, which seeks to replace Hunnam and Johnson with long-time favorites Matt Bomer and Alexis Bledel.

“All readers believe matt is christian,” Barbra wrote. “It would be a dream to see him in the movie.”

Of course, Barbra forgot to include why Bledel would make a better Anastasia Steele, but come on. Matt Bomer, people!

She’s hardly alone, though. The Fifty Shades of Grey cast petition already boasts nearly 20,000 signatures since going live. To give you some context as to just how viral this is going, the petition only had 7,000 signatures yesterday afternoon.

Additionally, Twitter has been blowing up with fan outrage all week. Many have targeted the film’s producer, Dana Brunetti, who offered a very measured and reasonable response to the critics on Twitter:

“There is a lot that goes into casting that isn’t just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc. So if your favorite wasn’t cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective.

“There can only be one… and it is done.”

But of course, responses have mostly looked like this:
