Christina Hendricks Changes Roles In ‘Dark Places’
Christina Hendricks was originally tapped to play a stripper in the adaptation of author Gillian Flynn’s Dark Places. However, a few things have changed since the news first surfaced.
According to reports, the Mad Men star is no longer attached to the stripper role in the flick. The actress will instead tackle the part of Charlie Theron’s murdered mother.
Vulture explains that Christina Hendricks will now have a more significant part to play in Dark Places. The actress will reportedly appear in a number of flashback sequences sprinkled throughout the adaptation. The Inquisitr previously reported that production on the film has already begun.
Hendricks obviously wasn’t the first choice for the role of Libby Day’s mom in writer-director Gilles Paquet-Brenner’s big-screen version of the story. Actress Samantha Morton was originally hired to portray the character. However, the Mad Men alum stepped in once Morton dropped out.
Dark Places tells the story of a woman who is forced to revisit the massacre of her entire family years after the incident took place. Although she testified that her brother was responsible for the murder, a secret society sets out uncover a few dark secrets.
Joining Christina Hendricks and Charlize Theron in the adaptation of Flynn’s novel are Chloe Grace Moretz (Kick-Ass 2) and Nicholas Hoult (Warm Bodies). The film is expected to arrive in theaters at some point next year.
As of this writing, producers have yet to cast the role of the stripper. Since filming on the movie is already underway, chances are this problem will be resolved in the very near future. It’s unclear who producers have in mind for the part of Krissi Cates.
