Skywalker Ranch Fire Damages Building, No Injuries Reported
The Skywalker Ranch fire that broke out early Tuesday morning damaged a small building located on the property. No injuries were reported by authorities.
According to fire officials, a shipping and receiving facility at George Lucas’ ranch received “minimum to moderate” damage during the blaze. Marin County fire Battalion Chief Mike Giannini said office materials and furniture were destroyed during the incident.
The Marin Independent Journal explains that the Skywalker Ranch fire was first reported at around 4 am on Tuesday morning. Sprinklers inside the building helped keep the blaze under control until authorities could arrive on the scene. The building’s roof also suffered some damage.
Giannini told the publication that no one was hurt during the fire. An electric motor in an exhaust fan is believed to be responsible for the damage. With the assistance of the ranch’s own emergency response team, firefighters were able to contain the blaze to the building’s attic.
According to Deadline, Skywalker Ranch representatives believe the damage caused by the fire will cost around $25,000 to repair. In addition to office furniture and supplies, several decorative pieces on top of the building were destroyed during the incident.
George Lucas’ Skywalker Ranch is located off Lucas Valley Road in Marin County, California. Not only does the 6,000-acre property sport a spacious main house, it’s also the home to Skywalker Sound and what Deadline describes as several agricultural buildings.
The Star Wars mastermind began piecing together his headquarters back in 1978. Reports suggest that the filmmaker has spent upwards of $100 million on the property since its genesis. The ranch sports gardens, barns, vineyards, and several exercise areas.
Wikipedia claims the property is also the home to a man-made body of water known as “Lake Ewok.” There’s also a 300-seat movie theater on the property in addition to several screening rooms. In other words, it’s exactly what you’d expect from the guy who helped change the face of cinema.
Fortunately, no one was injured during the recent Skywalker Ranch fire. The Force must have been very strong with everyone involved in keeping the blaze under control.
