A one-year-old was shot and killed this weekend in Brooklyn.
According to ABC News , the little boy was being pushed in his stroller by his mother and father across Livonia Avenue near the Marcus Garvey Complex in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn when shots rang out on Sunday night. One of the bullets hit the little boy in the head.
The one-year-old, identified as Antiq Hennis, was transported to the Brookdale Hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival.
Witnesses said that there was a dispute outside of the complex shortly before Hennis was shot. Police believe that the bullets may have been intended for Hennis’ father.
Community activist Willie Billips said : “I’m outraged at the murder of a one-year-old baby. I grew up in this neighborhood and I’ve seen a lot — but this is the worst. This senseless foolishness in Brownsville has got to stop.”
No arrests have been made so far. Police are currently asking for residents of the neighborhood to step forward with any information related to the shooting.
Sadly, this isn’t the only incident of a baby being shot to death this week. A baby was shot and killed in New Orleans while out on a walk with her babysitter. The 18-year-old woman, who was hit in the back and was rushed to the hospital, survived the shooting but the little girl that was in her arms did not.
