Simon Pegg Interested In ‘X-Files 3’ Role
The World’s End star Simon Pegg said he’s interested in landing a role in the next X-Files movie.
Chris Carter discussed the future of the franchise earlier this week. During his conversation, the series creator said he wanted Pegg to be a part of the proposed sequel. The actor doesn’t appear to have a problem with that whatsoever.
“I was a big fan of The X-Files and I’ve become friends with Gillian Anderson since. I’ve always loved that show so it’s definitely something I’d consider. It’s a great story and it would be nice to see it continue,” he recently told The Sun.
Although Simon Pegg said he wouldn’t mind getting involved with the next X-Files movie, he does have one very important condition. If 20th Century Fox pulls the trigger on the sequel, he wants the original stars to return.
“It has to be with David Duchovny and with Gillian,” he said.
Chris Carter told Empire magazine that he had a few ideas in mind for the next installment of the franchise. He added that the only thing standing in his way at the moment is the studio.
“I think all of us are interested in putting the band back together. I have an idea for a third movie in my head. The colonization date has passed and that is something we wouldn’t ignore. For the second movie, we only had the budget for a standalone story, but we want to go back to the mythology,” he explained to the magazine.
Carter revealed that he originally wanted Simon Pegg for X-Files: I Want To Believe. Unfortunately, he didn’t have a role suited for the Shaun of the Dead alum.
“I certainly would think about him if we were to go forward in any way,” he said.
Simon Pegg and frequent collaborator Nick Frost can currently be found in director Edgar Wright’s The World’s End. The film is playing in theaters right now.
