Selena Gomez: Miley Cyrus’ VMAs Performance Was ‘Amazing’
Will Smith and his family may not have been very impressed with Miley Cyrus’ VMAs performance, but Selena Gomez didn’t seem to have a problem with it.
Quite a few people had their feathers ruffled following the “We Can’t Stop” singer’s appearance at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. Cyrus’ misadventures with an unsuspecting foam finger didn’t settle well with quite a few viewers. The internet memes have been particularly brutal.
However, Selena Gomez doesn’t have anything negative to say about Cyrus’ crotch-driven performance. In fact, she seems to think the singer did a good job at the VMAs.
“I really thought the collaboration with Miley was amazing! Loved [it]!” the Spring Breakers star told E! Online at the event. She also appeared disappointed that Robin Thicke didn’t snag any major awards at the VMAs.
However, Selena Gomez didn’t walk away from the event empty-handed. The singer brought home the Best Pop Video award for her tune “Come and Get It.” Gomez seemed quite shocked and a little humbled by the honor.
“I remember actually watching some of my idols get this award so I’m pretty stoked. I didn’t think I was going to win, to be honest. I really didn’t. I think Robin Thicke should’ve won,” she told Us Weekly.
Fans of the former Wizards of Waverly Place star have a lot to keep them happy at the moment. In addition to her appearance at the VMAs, Gomez’s latest cinematic endeavor is slated to hit theaters later this month.
The singer stars alongside Ethan Hawke in the upcoming action-thriller Getaway. Gomez portrays a teenage delinquent who helps a man rescue his kidnapped wife from the clutches of a ruthless villain. The film opens in theaters on August 30.
