Robin Thicke’s Wife Attacked Miley Cyrus After VMAs? Probably Not

You’ve probably seen Miley Cyrus’ hyper-sexualized Video Music Awards performance with Robin Thicke by now (or at least, the supposed reaction shots), but a small rumor floating across the web suggests that no matter how many were offended by the stunt, none have a bigger axe to grind than Paula Patton, Thicke’s own wife.

Thicke’s supposedly “rapey” song and music video, replete with innuendo, topless dancers, and references to the 36-year-old’s manhood, wasn’t enough to anger his 37-year-old actress wife.

But former Disney child star Miley Cyrus gyrating, twerking and suggesting masturbation in a nude bikini while her husband belts out the song of the summer? That was the line, according to an “exclusive” at MediaTakeOut.

In an piece titled: “It POPPED OFF BACKSTAGE At The VMAs… Robin Thicke’s Wife Paula Patton ‘ATTACKS’ Miley Cyrus!!!” the site suggests that they have a “100 PERCENT CONFIRMED REPORT” that Paula Patton actually approached Miley Cyrus backstage after her performance and attempted to beat the crap out of her.

“Paula waited until the end of the show, so that she could get close enough to Miley… then she LASHED OUT” the site says, with an “insider” adding that “We had to physically hold Paula back, she was ready to go crazy. Plus she seemed to be a little inebriated – maybe too much champagne.”

Doesn’t sound like the classy actress to us, nor did it seem legitimate to expert gossip busters over at GossipCop.

“Whoa, seriously? Not. At. All,” they write.

“None of this ever happened. Gossip Cop checked in with a close Patton insider, who tells us the blog’s report is simply not true.”

Though if you’re going to take Jody Rosen of Vulture’s thesis at face value – that Cyrus’ performance was merely the latest chapter in a long and sordid history of subtly racist minstrel shows – well, then maybe Paula Patton would have a bone to pick with the “We Can’t Stop” singer after all.
