Kurt Busch Signs With Stewart-Haas Racing For 2014 And Beyond
It’s official! Kurt Busch will race with the team at Stewart-Haas Racing in 2014. The NASCAR super star confirmed on Monday that he has signed a multi-year deal.
Yesterday I reported that teammate Danica Patrick was excited to work with a four-driver team. Patrick had her best finishes on the IndyCar circuit while competing alongside three other drivers.
On Monday morning, Kurt Busch in no undercetain terms told ESPN.com:
“I’m going to Stewart-Haas. I’ve signed my deal.”
With Kurt Busch behind the wheel, the Stewart-Hass Racing team will go into next years Sprint Cup chase with a powerhouse lineup.
Busch, in the meantime, will continue to focus on pushing through the bubble and making his way into NASCAR’s Chase for the Sprint Cup. Busch is currently ranked 12th in the standings and six points behind 10th place Joe Logano.
Kurt admitted that his Furniture Row Racing team offered him a subsequent pay raise but ultimatley he chose to move forward with Tony Stewart’s team. According to Busch, he’s not focused on the team switch at the moment. Talking about his future plans he said it’s all about the No. 78 car and his Chase plans.
“Come Wednesday, that’s all I’m going to think about,” Stewart said.
Tony Stewart is out for the season as he continues to rehab his recently suffered injuries. Filling in for Stewart is Mark Martin.
The full terms of Kurt Busch’s multi-year deal have not been revealed at this time.
