‘Fast And Furious 7’: Tony Jaa Signs On For Upcoming Sequel


The Protector and Ong Bak star Tony Jaa will make his English-language debut in director James Wan’s upcoming sequel Fast and Furious 7.

Although the gifted martial artist has a huge following around the globe, Jaa has yet to tackle the world of Hollywood. However, that’s all going to change once the next installment of Universal’s hit franchise arrives in theaters next summer.

Not only will Fast and Furious 7 serve as his English-language debut, it will also mark the first time Tony Jaa has worked with a major studio in the United States. The actor’s most popular cinematic efforts were produced in Thailand.

The Ong Bak star recently discussed his enthusiasm for the Fast and Furious franchise during a brief chat with the folks at The Hollywood Reporter. Jaa, who is apparently a huge fan of the series, is definitely looking forward to working alongside Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson.

“The films are fast-paced, fun and keep the audience involved. There is a great mix of humor and action, something I really appreciate. There is no better film to be involved in for a first US studio production,” the actor told the website.

Chris Morgan, who has worked on several of the Fast and Furious films, is currently hard at work on the script for the next movie. Since details about Jaa’s role are few and far between, it’s unclear who he will end up fighting in the flick.

The Conjuring director James Wan’s contribution to the franchise already has a number of talented people working in front of the camera. In addition to series stars Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, and Dwayne Johnson, the next installment will feature Jason Statham and MMA brawler Ronda Rousey.

Filming on the sequel is expected to begin this September. If all goes according to Universal’s master plan, then the flick should arrive in theaters on July 11, 2014. Tony Jaa newbies should definitely investigate the clip embedded below. The guy’s abilities are unreal.
