Aziz Ansari will pen a book about love and relationships for the folks at Penguin Press. The tome reportedly scored the comedian a whopping $3.5 million payday.
Fans of the actor will have to wait until 2015 to get their hands on the offering. Although details about Ansari’s book are currently few and far between, the Parks and Recreation star will reportedly tackle what he describes as an “entirely new era for singles.”
Despite having a premise and some of the finer details about the project hammered out, Aziz Ansari doesn’t have a title for his book at the moment. However, he provided a little insight about his first literary effort in a recent press release.
“You know when you text someone you’re romantically interested in and you don’t hear anything back and then you see them post a photo of a pizza on Instagram? That’s exactly what I want this book to deal with,” he said.
The comedian continued, “These are strange conundrums that no generation has ever faced before and it’s a fascinating jumping off point for what I hope will be a very interesting book about modern courtship.”
Ansari will work with several academics and experts in order to delve deeper into modern-day romance. He and his crew plan to do plenty of research in order to present a well-rounded and entertaining investigation to readers.
“So much of Aziz Ansari’s brilliant humor comes from grasping the hidden forces that govern our everyday lives. I’m delighted but not surprised that he is the one who is going to make sense of the strange new world that singles have to navigate today,” Penguin VP Scott Moyers explained in a recent press release.
The comedian isn’t the only funny individual looking to release a book in the near future. Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, B.J. Novak, and Lena Dunham also have literature looming on the horizon.
A specific release date for the Aziz Ansari book hasn’t been set as of this writing.
