Ben Affleck Is Batman, How Twitter Is Reacting To The News
On Thursday night, the speculation finally ended with the announcement that Ben Affleck had been chosen to play Batman in the Man Of Steel Sequel.
As of now, the movie remains untitled and is also known as Superman vs. Batman. Henry Cavill (Immortals) returns to reprise his role as Superman/Clark Kent.
But what are people saying and thinking about Ben Affleck’s selection?
First of, Ben’s name had come up in a report, published by The Inquisitr earlier in the week, along with that of Luke Evans, Wes Bentley, and Jake Gyllenhaal.
Secondly, Zack Snyder had said that he was looking for a more “mature” dark knight, in his forties.
The news shouldn’t be so surprising then, Ben Affleck fits the requirements, although many had an opinion, at the time of the initial report, about Ben Affleck being on the short list.
Now that the news is out, everyone seems to have an opinion and what better place to voice that opinion than social media, Twitter in particular.
Ben Affleck is generating all kinds of reaction, from what this writer has seen, many negative reactions. People seem to either hate the choice or love it.
No one disputes that Affleck is talented, but is he the right choice? Can he fill Christian Bale’s shoes?
Bale created such an iconic character when he took over Christohpher Nolan’s Batman in The Dark Knight Trilogy, that it’s hard to imagine anyone else in the role.
Many were hoping for another, of the many, talented British actors, so it is understandable that some are disappointed. It is a reminder of the reaction with which Daniel Craig was received when it was announced that the would play James Bond.
Ben Affleck and Batman have been trending, presumably throughout the night on Twitter. Let’s take a look at some of the reaction.
Some one who is obviously disappointed this morning.

One of the more sedate ones we found.
Ben Affleck as the new Batman? I really don’t know. Wouldn’t have been my first choice.

Even those who like Ben Affleck, can’t see him in role.
As much as I like @BenAffleck and think he’s one seriously handsome mofo I’m not entirely sure on the batman move

It was hard to find positive comments. We were trying, to make it fair.
Am I the only one who thinks Ben Affleck was a good choice?
— Adam (@Adam4Holt) August 23, 2013
That sentiment doesn’t abound on Twitter this morning.
Why am I waking up to find Ben Affleck to play batman? Have we all forgotten Daredevil?! Great writer/director, terrible actor

We could go on and on, while writing this article there were over 300 new tweets about Ben Affleck/Batman, so it’s a hot topic on Twitter.
People have strong feelings one way or the other, mostly the other. Let’s just say it’s not one of the most popular casting decisions made by Warner Bros. and it puts a damper in the news that Batman would stand against Superman in this new film
Many are making reference to Affleck’s role as another superhero Daredevil. Even though the film received decent reviews, some didn’t particularly like his portrayal of the Marvel character and are not enthused to see him put on spandex again.
It appears, from the Twitter reactions, that Ben Affleck has a lot to prove when he takes Henry Cavill on as Batman in Zack Snyder’s Man Of Steel sequel.
How do you feel about Warner Bros. choice of Ben Affleck as Batman? Do you think Warner Bros. made a mistake?
