Ginger Zee Gets Engaged: ‘I’m The Luckiest Girl In The World’
Ginger Zee, aged 32, the nation’s favorite TV weather presenter, is engaged to her longstanding boyfriend, Ben Aaron of WNBC.
Good Morning America’s weekend weather girl was born Ginger Zuidgeest. She was called Ginger by her father, a Dutch immigrant to America who didn’t speak much English because he was a fan of Gilligan’s Island.
Having attended Valparaiso University, she went on to work at a number of stations before joining ABC, including, WEYI-TV, WYIN-TV and Wood-TV. Zee holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Meteorology and is also an AMS certified broadcaster.
Ginger Zee announced today on GMA that Ben, her husband-to-be, popped the all important question yesterday afternoon, outside the Lincoln Center in New York. Ben asked Ginger to marry him, near to the fountain where they had their first date.
Zee told GoodMorningAmerica.com: “I had no idea!. It was 2:30 p.m., I had workout clothes on and the construction crew working on the fountain burst into applause – so cute!”
Ben is clearly the romantic type, as he hid the engagement ring inside a banana pudding container, which is one of Ginger’s favorite sweet treats. They reportedly shared one such banana pudding after their first date.
Ginger Zee, clearly elated also said: “My heart is so full! I really feel like I’m the luckiest girl in the world.”
