David Cassidy Charged With DUI Not For The First Time

David Cassidy is facing a drunken driving charge after his arrest early Wednesday in Schodack, New York.

Former teen idol Cassidy, 63, was given breath and field sobriety tests at a police checkpoint when he failed to dip his headlights, according to the police.

After the breathalyzer device registered 0.10, he was arrested. The legal blood alcohol limit is 0.08. Cassidy was released on $2,500 bail and ordered to appear in court on September 6.

In a previous case, he entered a no contest plea as a first-time offender in February 2011 to a drunken driving charge.

This came after he had been arrested in November 2010 in Florida. He was sentenced to a year’s probation, and his driver’s license was suspended for six months. He also attended a DUI school, paid a $500 fine, and did 50 hours of community service.

At the height of his TV popularity, Cassidy played the eldest of five children of a widowed mother. The family – all of them musicians – traveled to gigs in a repainted school bus.

The show was canceled after four seasons, so Cassidy launched his own pop music career. He was able to fill concert halls with screaming teenage girls attracted to such hits as “I Think I Love You.”

More recently he acted in the 2009 ABC Family sitcom Ruby & The Rockits in which he played an aging former teen heartthrob. The show was canceled after one season.

It seems that the years have not been kind to David Cassidy if his mugshot (above) is any indication.
