‘Ratchet And Clank: Into The Nexus’ Gameplay Shows Off New Toys [Video]
Ratchet And Clank: Into The Nexus just got a gameplay video showing off some new toys.
The PlayStation exclusive Ratchet And Clank series introduced us to another kind of platformer, involving two characters working together. A human-like creature with big ears who happens to be a mechanic (Ratchet) and his smaller robot companion (Clank) have taken on quite a share of science fiction adventures teeming with hilarity and invention. The two travel throughout the galaxy, saving the world time and again, and now they’re heading into “the nexus” with some new weapons.
This time around, Ratchet and Clank are escorting Vendra and Neftin Prog, twin criminals, to the Vartax Detention Center when there is a jailbreak and the two escape in the confusion. As a result, our heroes get stuck on the planet Yerek and discover an interdimensional crisis that threatens pretty much everything.
The gameplay video begins with Ratchet doing his usual thing, jumping between platforms, and Insomniac Games creative director Brian Allgeier talking us through the demo at Gamescon 2013. He says, “Into The Nexus is a return to the classic Ratchet And Clank style adventure, and continues Ratchet’s story arc from the future series that includes games like Tools Of Destruction and A Crack In Time.”
Brian Allgeier continues to tell us that one of the big focuses for Ratchet And Clank: Into The Nexus is gravity. This game takes gravity manipulation and uses it to help you advance to new areas and take out enemies easier.
One of Ratchet’s new toys is a gravity gun, which creates a transportation field between two targets. Another one turns anything it hits into a snowman, rendering enemies and obstacles harmless in the midst of Holiday music. Ratchet now has a pair of gravity boots which help him walk along surfaces that ordinarily would lead to him being a grease spot far below. The vortex grenade will create a black hole that sucks enemies into it from a distance. The nightmare box releases scary creatures that have the usual effect on enemies. Another gun, after being fully upgraded, will knock enemies into the air and leave them stuck in place so you can pick them off easier.
That’s a lot of new toys for the infamous duo.
What do you think of the new toys in Ratchet And Clank: Into The Nexus?
