Elizabeth Olsen For Avengers 2, Set To Play Scarlet Witch
Elizabeth Olsen looks set to star as the Scarlet Witch in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron, after rumors began to swirl that she had been cast.
Saoirse Ronan had been heavily linked with the role, however it has now been alleged that Whedon will choose Olsen instead.
Bleeding Cool have reported that Ronan actually turned down the role of the Scarlet Witch, otherwise known as Wanda Maximoff, even though she was Whedon’s first choice for the role.
However the website’s source revealed that both Marvel and Whedon quickly moved on from the blow, and decided to chose Elizabeth Olsen instead for the part.
It’s believed that Olsen will need to use a “European” accent for the role, which will see her line up alongside Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L Jackson, and Scarlett Johannson.
Scarlet Witch will be joined by Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the newest addition to the ensemble. The Kick-Ass star is set to play the role of Quicksilver, who is the brother of the Scarlet Witch in the comics. Their impressive family is rounded off by Magneto, and the X-Men star just happens to be their father.
Johnson has made a name for himself with star performances in Nowhere Boy and Oliver Stone’s Savages, while Olsen’s stock is set to rise even further with turns in Spike Lee’s Olboy remake and Gareth Edwards’ reboot of Godzilla.
Recently, Kevin Feige, the president of production at Marvel, confirmed that the studio currently have their future slate of films all in order.
Feige remarked, “I could arguably say what we’re planning for the year 2021. Will that happen? I don’t know. But what we planned for 2015 in 2006 is happening.”
Do you think Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson are right for the Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver?
