‘True Blood’ Star Rutina Wesley Files For Divorce

True Blood star Rutina Wesley has filed for divorce.

Wesley, who plays Tara on the hit HBO show, has filed to end her 8-year marriage to actor Jacob Fishel. She cites the time-honored “irreconcilable differences” in the filing, reports TMZ.

The gossip site also reports that Wesley is taking steps to make sure that she doesn’t lose any of her fortune in the divorce. She’s more successful than Fishel, and has asked the judge to refute a possible request from her ex for spousal support.

The couple met while studying at Julliard, and dated while they were classmates. They married after graduation in 2005, and have no children together.

“We thought, ‘if we could spend four years together at this crazy school, then we can make it the rest of our lives,'” Wesley said of her marriage to Fishel in a 2010 interview with Essence magazine.

“He’s an amazing actor, cook and husband. I enjoy him immensely,” she said at the time.

Aside from True Blood, the 34-year-old actress has made appearances in Numb3rs and The Cleveland Show. Fishel has had minor roles in NBC’s Medium as well as CBS’ Cold Case.

True Blood returns for its seventh season in the summer of 2014. Wesley’s character was finally turned into a vampire during Season 5 at the request of Lafayette and Sookie in order to prevent her from dying.
